UN Peacekeepers to be deployed in Eastern Ukraine? Yes, please!

Deployment of UN peacekeepers should be agreed with both sides of Ukrainian conflict, says Lavrov — RT Russian politics. Ukraine has – wisely – suggested that UN Peacekeepers be stationed in Eastern Ukraine. Russia’s foreign minister sounds positive. That is important and good news – the most constructive for a year. To get the UN peacekeepers into the conflict zone has been one of TFF’s proposals since the fighting broke out. In October 1991, TFF was also the first to suggest that the UN be deployed to Croatia. It actually was a few months later thanks to Cyrus Vance, the former U.S. Secretary of State, who in his role as mediator was working on exactly that when he received our report and we then met him a late evening in Belgrade. Conclusion: Never give up constructive pro-peace proposal-making. One day they do become relevant – when people find out that violence was not such a brilliant idea.

Depiction of the Spiral of Violence

Or, rather, of violence against violence + terrorism against terrorism. Among the marchers against terrorism and for freedom of expression we find leaders from France, Denmark, Egypt, Italy, Turkey, Russia, the U.S., Israel, Britain, Saudi Arabia, Bahrein and Ukraine. What do they have in common? A deep belief in violence – violence of various types: 9-10 of them presently fighting […]

Per T. Ohlsson – mannen utan vilja att förstå?

Hej!

US warns Russia against Ukraine invasion

☮ ☮ US warns Russia against Ukraine invasion – Al Jazeera English Does the United States want a war? Read this carefully! Samantha Power used to be a researcher one could respect, albeit not always agree with. Now she has turned into a war-monger. Here she has the guts to say that if Russia should deliver humanitarian aid to the suffering people in Eastern Ukraine, it will be considered “an invasion”. This is a completely new principle in the world community invented for the occasion. And Ban Ki Moon supports the idea that the Ukraine government – which is seriously co-responsible for the humanitarian crisis – does fine in terms of humanitaarian aid. If he had been the UN’s man and not the US’ man he would have condemned both parties’ violence. I mean, Kiev is “killing its own” as they said about Khadafi and Al-Assad and others. Does the US want a war over Eastern Ukraine and force Ukraine into NATO – if not, why is this being handled in this exceptionally confrontational and counterproductive – for the West itself – manner? And when will media people begin to ask that and similar question?

☮ ☮ Ukraine’s President Poroshenko: The world must choose sides

☮ ☮ Ukraine’s President Poroshenko: The world must choose sides – CNN Petro Poroshenko emphasizes it’s a terrorist act beyond Ukraine, part of world terrorism (he uses the word 10 times); this is what he called it also just hours after it happened. He implicitly excludes accident or that a terrorist act was in the making but took down the wrong plane. He sees “no difference” with September 11 and virtually quotes George W. Bush on people either being with us or with the terrorists. He denies conflicts “inside the Ukrainian nation”. This is both interesting and surprising aspects of this presentation of the official Ukrainian perspective. I recommend it.
