The “Abstract Real” video

This video offers glimpses of the works I exhibited in my studio in 2016 – an exploration of abstract photography: What is real? What is abstract? And how do the two mix…blur? All the works started out with a photography and successively changed in the process to become “abstract”. I find that fascinating since photography has almost always been about taking pictures of what is, i.e. documentary. (Of course with the exception of those few who experimented with “photograms” à la Moholy-Nagy and other techniques that departed from the urge to present a documentation of a recognizable reality). Observe please the inspiration from Iranian aesthetics, including classical geometric patterns and calligraphy, and enjoy the music I’ve chosen by Iranian composer Fariborz Lachini too. I’ve written about the background of this exploration at Oberg PhotoGraphic’s blog. And as usual the video is uploaded to my channels on Vimeo and Youtube.

Valentina Lisitsa

Valentina Lisitsa – YouTube The world class pianist barred from playing with the Toronto Symphony Orchestra because of her tweets about the Ukraine conflict. As if that had anything to do with her art. Shame on Toronto Phony! With suppression of such art by a Western cultural institution we are all doomed! And where are all the phony Paris marchers from Charlie Hebdo today – Netanyahu, Helle Thorning Schmidt, Sarkozy, Angela Merkel, Poroshenko (oh no, she is critical of Ukraine’s government!)? Where did we hear “Je Suis Valentina”? Long live freedom of artistic expression!

Klaus Rifbjerg (15. december 1931 – 4. april 4, 2015)

Frank Gehry – is there one politician somewhere with a similar creativity

Frank Gehry on his ground-breaking new gallery design Isn’t it just amasing what human creativity and a sense of beauty can create? This is a magnificent new ‘sculptured’ building by Frank Gehry, mostly known perhaps for the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao. Now, imagine that the profession called politician could show us just one man or woman with the same free spirit and mind, just a fraction of such innovative thinking!! And if they have creativity it is in how to fool, deceive, lie, destroy and play games… We need creative politics or, as György Konrad once called iy, anti-politics…
